Fall Feast & Legacy Awards 2025

Save the date for our third annual Fall Feast & Legacy Awards celebration! We invite you to join us for cocktails at CARA and a benefit dinner at the Church of the Village on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
This year, we are thrilled to honor Pippa Garner (in memoriam) and Carolyn Lazard for their enduring contributions to art and ever-deepening connections to CARA. Garner, whose legacy is stewarded by her estate, is a 2025–2027 recipient of the CARA Fellowship, and Lazard is collaborating with CARA on a forthcoming book project, co-published with Artists Space.
About the Honorees
Pippa Garner (b. 1942; d. 2024) was a transdisciplinary artist. For more than five decades, she pushed against systems of consumerism, marketing, and waste, creating a dense body of work including drawing, performance, sculpture, video, and installation. Her uncompromising approach to life and practice allowed her to interact with the worlds of illustration, editorial, television, and art without ever quite becoming beholden to them.
Carolyn Lazard (b. 1987) is an artist based in Philadelphia and New York. Their primary medium is iteration. Their practice remembers the generative incapacity of debility. Lazard’s work has been exhibited in several institutions including Artists Space, New York; Museum Für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Museum Ludwig, Cologne; CAPC Musée d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Their work was included in the 2021 Greater New York, 2022 Venice Biennale, 2023 NGV Triennial, and the 2019 and 2024 Whitney Biennial. Lazard is a 2019 Pew Fellow, 2020 Disability Futures Fellow, 2021 United States Artists Fellow, and a 2023 MacArthur Fellow. They hold a BA from Bard College and an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania.
